In its inaugural issue, AI Dialogue Magazine releases a global Call for Submissions, inviting authors worldwide to contribute their opinions or technical analyses. The Magazine covers the advancements in AI in April in “News” section, which includes the report on Turing Awards winner, the latest AI-aided drug development published in Science, the AI conference in Africa, and a local AI meet in Calgary. In the "Brief Communications" section, we first present a stimulating comparison of Logic-based versus Statistics-based AI, outlining their foundational principles, historical context, and potential future directions, followed by an overview of challenges of creating fair AI algorithms. The "Articles" section offers two in-depth analyses on guidance on how beginners in coding can leverage powerful tools to create AI applications, as well as the algorithms in the field of “Fair AI” that provide solutions to overcome Data Bias. Lastly, in the “Leading Edge Interview”, we feature an in-depth interview with Dr. Xiangpeng Zhao, a senior engineer in Meta/Facebook, who shares his insights on AI techniques and its impact to human society.

In this issue, the Magazine covers the advancements in AI in April/May in “News” section, which includes the report on IEEE Computer Pioneer Award winner, the latest AI-aided protein design published in Science, the AI conference in representation learning in Vienna, Austria and the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Los Angeles, California. In the "Brief Communications" section, we first present a comparison of rule-based and reinforcement learning-based AI principles, using Deep Blue and AlphaGo as illustrating examples, followed by a discussion of the contribution of AI recommendation system to polarized political views. The "Articles" section offers two overview essays on guidance the applications of AI to biomedical research and YouTube channels on AI techniques, respectively. Lastly, in the “Leading Edge Interview”, we feature in-depth interviews with Mr. Tyler Sluys, a scientific fiction writer who has published Eva 2040 series set in for the near-future dystopian world, and Dr. Sunil Rajput, Director of Research at Alberta Innovates, who has over 20 years of experience on the cutting edge of health technologies working with academia, clinicians and the private sector.

In this issue, we cover the advancements in AI in June/July in “News” section, which includes the robots developed to mimic human and animal behavior, the leading AI computer vision conference held in Seattle, self-driving cars on the road in Wuhan, China and the release of next-generation AI focused processors from AMD. In the "Brief Communications" section, we present the evolution of AI writing, starting from context-free grammar generation in 2005 of an article to nowadays ChatGPT generation. This is followed by a discussion of the potential for AI driven graders to alleviate the burden of marking. The "Articles" section offers two overview essays on what is representation learning and a course run by high-school students to educate others on AI. Lastly, in the “Leading Edge Interview” section, we feature in-depth interviews with Mr. Xihao Hu, the Chief Information Officer and Chief Scientist at GV20 Therapeutics, a company developing drugs using AI methods, and Dr. Xiting Yan, a professor at Yale whose research currently involves using AI to understand disease heterogeneity and pathogenesis.
